Beautiful Days

I've decided that if every PA day was like yesterday as far as weather goes, I would not complain.
The weather progressively got sunnier and prettier as the week went on, and therefore I forced myself to take advantage of it by getting the kids out for some walks up the road.

I had the kids chew gun and then use it to stick things of nature to their plates. E picked one thing and then didn't want anything else. I realized it's because she didn't want to use up all of her gum. J wasn't too generous w/ it either. They don't get gum very often!
***************************
We had friends over for dinner Sunday evening. They are fun laid back people and she had never been on a quad before so she hopped on the back of me and d. I then proceeded to tell her how I wasn't allowed to ride these either as so many people were hurt or killed on them (really more 3wheelers) and it freaked her out! I guess my timing wasn't the greatest, but she still had fun.

Memorial Day was spent at D's parents. Fabulous weather!! Went for a walk with E and my niece who just had her hair cut for locks of love, so cute!

V enjoyed the walk as well, but if you look closely there is a bug on the tip of his nose! It seems as if he's looking at it. Didn't know that until I saw it today.
Hanging out with Uncle Dave, who is stuffing his cheeks full of food.

MY Man, don't you try to steal him!! (he was going groundhog hunting)

I couldn't choose between the pics so I posted both. I didn't ask them to pose, just said "hey guys!" and they all went into mode. The second one I just asked j if I could have one where I saw his face.

****************

I was a secret reader in J's class a couple weeks ago. The kids were so excited about the baby that they were swarming the teacher way more than below in the 2nd pic.

So I don't know if I have shared about the plant that grew through the floor of my laundry room. But here it is, grown all the way to the other side of my washing machine. D just tore out this plant (wisteria that never bloomed) so this shouldn't happen again. Can you believe I let it get that long?

random fun

So I really wanted to share a couple videos, but they are not loading...will have to figure that out. So here are a few random shots.

"mommy look, I made a map of California" I thought this was quite clever for a 4yr old. E and J like to look at the road maps in the car and D and I decided that is where the circles connected by lines came from.

We had our friend Owen over last week for a visit, they enjoyed a little time in the tent.

"yes i have a strong neck"

hanging out in mom's lap

D wanted me to take a picture of her "perfect curls" as he put it. So I am sharing the perfection, ;)

E: mommy did you see the paper stuck on the wall downstairs?
Me: What paper?
E: pause
Me: Did you stick paper to the wall?
E: yes
Me: What did you use, tape?
E: no
Me: Glue?
E: no, I used chap stick
So I walked downstairs and found this just below our mantle.

Super Goof

The thing about E is that she can be so moody. She can look at you with no expression and walk away without a care. And then she can turn around and be super goofy. She was so cute standing there in her towel after a shower that I ran to get the camera and she decided to make faces. The second one is her favorite. The only coached picture is the one where she has an almost normal smile.

My Mother's Day

Even though mother's don't get a paycheck I can't deny the rewards. Last Friday I went to J's class for a Mother's Day presentation. I walked in to hear his teacher say "well, I'm sure that....oh here she is!", and my son came running up to me with a huge grin on his face. I suppose he was worried that they were going to start without me. I sat at his desk while his class sang this "thanks mom" song, which was so cheesy and still I was trying not to cry. Then they came back to us and had us open a gift. There was a pretty card that he colored, (coloring is not his thing, so it meant a lot to see that he put real thought into it for me) and a book that they wrote for us. I tried to scan the actual pages of what he wrote but the positioning came out weird for some reason, so I am just going to quote some of my favorite parts. (also I tried to stick to his spelling:)
Chapter 1 My Mother
My Mom looks like my teacher! My moms hair is very long. My mom and me play Life. My mom washis dishis. I like my mom!! My mom is thin. Also she's beudaful and nice. I like my mom!

Chapter 5 What Mom Likes To Do
My Mom likes to take care of the baby. Wile I play a VidoGame. She likes to obey God. Also she likes to take lots and lots and lots of naps. She also likes to play with me.

Rewards indeed.
Saturday night I went to a Mother Daughter Banquet with D's grandmother along with his sister and a coupe Aunts. E was with me and after the meal they had "entertainment". Part of that was a woman who sang some songs, and at one point she invited the little girls to come up and sing Jesus Loves Me. She then proceeded to ask them some questions like "what day is it tomorrow?" and "what could you do for your mom on mother's day?" At this point I'm messing with my new camera no really watching and then I hear, "and aren't you pretty with your curls!" Knowing this must be mine I start to pay attention and this is what went down....
Woman: What could you do for your mom on Mother's Day tomorrow?
E: Um, I could give her a hug.
Woman: Yes, that 's so sweet. You're going to make me cry. Now who can tell me some of the nice things your mommy does for you? Okay...
E: I suvd her a poty. (to me it's clear that she has said "i served her a party" and she did the day before in the hallway, a lovely tea party with dessert and dancing, but...)
Woman: You sit on the potty for her?
E: glaring because this is not what she meant, she still nods because she does sit on the potty when she needs to
Woman: Where is your mommy when you are on the potty? (why would you ask this?)
E: She's in the shower.
Audience: roaring with laughter
another quick story...
J stayed the night at a friend's house on Saturday and the parents said they were listening to the kids talk in their room, (they were in the living room and could hear whatever they were saying). Wes(7) is his friend and Keilah(5) is his little sister who shares a room.
K: Jesse will you marry me when we grow up?
J: I don't know, I'm gonna marry a lot of girls.
I'm afraid I have a casanova.

I love my kids!

Mom

I have realized that I never fully appreciated my mom until I became a mother myself. Actually, I'm sure I will appreciate her more as my children grow and I experience their years of adolescence and leaving the nest and everything before and after that. I remember being a kid and not understanding why my mom seemed to be the only mom who cared what her kids watched, listened to, wore, went, etc. Now I get it. The point is she cared. She may have seemed like the bad guy to us, but she knew the lasting effects of the choices she'd make for us when we were young. There are a few things about my mom I remember that I admire most about her: She always said Jesus was her best friend and we knew it wasn't a cliche',she meant it; She stood firm for truth and the right, even if it put her in a position to be rejected; she let me wear dresses that spun around even though she wasn't a "girly girl" herself; she always made birthdays special. Really this is a drop in the bucket of how wonderful my mom was and is. I know that when I lived at home I took it for granted. I wish I had a few more of her qualities, for example... being responsible enough to get to the post office in time so she would have her mother's day gift on mother's day! Anyway, I love you mom, thanks for following His ways, even when we didn't understand and probably didn't make it easy. I feel like I know you better now as a woman, a wife and a mother. Now I get it.

oh yes, did I forget to mention their sense of style?

don't you want to bite my brother's cheeks? chomp chomp!

Visitors

We were blessed with visitors at the beginning of the month. My mom and grandma flew in early Thursday morning and my dad came in saturday.

V was the perfect host by sitting down and telling Grandma what has happened since her last visit. He is quite the talker.

On Friday we went downtown and saw this funky fountain with leaping water.

Friday evening J escorted Gram and Great Gram to Sight and Sound Theater for the production of Daniel.

Saturday we had a lunch with dessert for my grandma, she turned 75 and I hope I have her genes, because she looks fab!! Happy Birthday Grandma!

Saturday was the big event, E's dance recital. She danced to Alice in Wonderland and was oh my...too cute. At the beginning of the show everyone got a trophy so she felt like big stuff.

On Monday, the G's caught one of J's Tball games. He loves to run all over the field to get the ball, and therefore is often reminded by the coach to stay by his base.

Uncle Dwayne and Aunt Abby came to the game and E was in heaven with all the love she was getting from their new puppy Lincoln. He would bury his nose into her to stay warm, so sweet!

These are just a few more around the house shots.

V loves his big brother.

I'm trying to teach my son that real men can fold their own laundry. Notice the nearly full basket, that's all him!

So close to rolling over!
