Autumn yum

Cute right? I saw it somewhere, I don't remember where exactly but I'm not original.

My helpers...they were allowed to lick some frosting when we finished.

Acorns...can you tell which ones E did?

Good night.

this week

Yup...gave in to the summer buzz. Said I'd never, but we did it. His hair grows so fast, it's so thick and it's been so hot. He loves it.

Yesterday we played in the rain.

We had planned to go creek stomping and swimming w/ Den's mom and a couple cousins and we kept those plans despite the rain.

Notice V has no pants. They kept falling off so we ditched. He don't need no stinkin' pants.

They kept running back...
...and forth.

Then a quick plunge in the pool.

Praying that there would be no thunder and lightning. (there wasn't)

Some of us were plumb tuckered out.

Last Sunday I made great great aunt hank's (Henrietta) camp pancake for the kids. I had been describing it to E, my lover of questions, and decided that it would be easier to show her. YUM. (I know these pics are blurry...my hands shake like a drunken sailor when I try to take pics w/ no flash)

Today during J's cello lesson I took the others plus cousin Ethan to a park to feed geese & ducks. Those buggers are aggressive! The one white goose was hissing at us. So ungrateful, in my opinion. We quickly finished off our few pieces of bread and got out of there.

The girl is there....

but this post only features photos of the boys.

For breakfast we made this...

from J's Star Wars cookbook. (though it was really a single sun toast as we have giant farm fresh eggs)

And this is what was left on J's plate. He did end up eating it w/ more toast.

It was our first library day of the summer! I love how V saw everyone reading and after many attempts of trying to get his siblings to wrestle, he decided that he would join in w/ Goodnight Gorilla.

Den took this last night....so glad he did!

Baby B fix.

For those of you that are wondering we have survived a whole day and a half w/o my mom and I think we are going to make it! I really think the summer is going to fly by and for the time being I'm loving having the kids home all together until school starts.

Filling Up the Day

What do you do when it's like this outside?

Well you can finish making Valentine cards,

Build a huge indoor fort,

Shoot some hoops,

And then finally go out into it! (21")

Of course, you must kick out the stowaways.

Then whip up some ice cream made from snow.

Then the day is done.

The next day you can admire the beautiful icicles.

Then say goodbye to them as daddy knocks down the deathtraps.

Serving

Last Wed. we took the kids to GAIN, with our friends who had been many times before. Den has been wanting to do this for a while and we finally found a time that worked.

We told the kids to head to the car and this is what I saw...sigh.

They started us how packing seeds for people to grow food to eat and sell.

The kids were really into this at first and were racing to get as many done as they possibly could, but then more people came and it was elbow to elbow.

So instead they made gospel bracelets.

I tied quilts.

I'd love to say that the kids were excited to go. They did NOT want to go. But once we were there they were troopers and really got into it. Praying their hearts grow more servant like everyday.

Two nights ago I made pumpkin cookies and he couldn't get enough. "No more" was not the answer he wanted to hear.

The past week

V is continuing to take more and more steps. His latest accomplishment his standing up all by himself, without help of people or furniture. He'll take a few steps and then decide he's rather go fast by crawling.

Contemplating a tumble

J made dinner. I'm hoping to do this more often. He picked the meal out of a kids cookbook that we found at the library and we made it together. I enjoy cooking but the hardest part for me is deciding what to make with out feeling like it's the same old thing. Having the kids do that part is huge for me. E will have her turn too.

He chose an "accordion sandwich". It was yummy and we had some tomato soup with it. He was quite proud of himself.

Valentine's from Grandma Linda.

E's preschool class went swimming last Wed. It was a bit steamy being a indoor pool.

On uncle Michael's back at market.

Checking out his new truck, a Vday gift from Grandma and Grandpa.
